01. AI and Authorship
We do not consider AI or LLM tools as authors or co-authors, as authorship is inseparable from the questions of accountability, accuracy, originality, and ethical integrity.
02. Permitted Use of AI by Authors
Authors may use AI tools as supplementary aids to edit language, correct grammar, improve argumentative flow, proofreading, or such limited editorial assistance. However, any such use should be properly acknowledged in the article’s acknowledgement section. But authors should not use AI tools for the purpose of:
- Intellectual content creation
- Data interpretation, data fabrication, data manipulation and data analysis
- Writing the entire article
- Whole-article translation
- Substantial revision of the whole-article
We strongly recommend use of minimal and non-generative AI and AI-assisted technology. We discourage substantive use of AI for manuscript preparation and editing.
03. Disclosure of AI Use
If any substantive use of AI is essential, the author must disclose it in the acknowledgement section of the manuscript with proper explanation for such use. Manuscripts will be rejected if proper explanation is not provided. The disclosure should mention
- Name of the AI tool and version
- Date of use
- Purpose and nature of use
Use of minimal and non-generative AI and AI-assisted technology (such as grammar check, proofreading, formatting task etc.) does not require any declaration.
04. AI-Generated Images and Other Content
Any use of AI-generated image, graph, flowchart, artwork, or other visual material in manuscript requires declaration and due acknowledgement. Author must be held accountable if such material violates copyrights laws.
05. AI Use by Editors and Reviewers
Manuscripts submitted to Entanglements are always confidential. Editors and reviewers are strictly prohibited to upload manuscripts/submissions to any generative AI or such AI systems to assess MS, to generate peer-review reports, to make editorial recommendation, and to compose editorial correspondence. We rely on human scholarly assessment of the manuscripts and editorial decision. Editors and reviewers should not breach the trust and violate the confidentiality of all materials entrusted to them.
06. Integrity and Editorial Action
Disclosure and proper acknowledgement of the use AI and such generative tools is mandatory for those who have used such tools to prepare their manuscripts. Inappropriate use of AI will be treated as serious violation of journal’s rules, regulations and publication ethics. Strict action shall be taken if inappropriate use of AI is detected upon further investigation and the journal may seek clarification where necessary. Entanglements: Journal of Posthumanities reserves the right to update/revise this policy in accordance with the latest developments in AI technologies, publication ethics, and journal’s regulations.
